Sema Repair: diagnosis starts from the symptom

Launched at Autopromotec, the new fault case system guides the technician from the symptom to the solution in just a few clicks.

Repairing a vehicle starting from the symptom, without working by trial and error: that is the problem Sema Repair sets out to solve. Presented publicly at Autopromotec 2025, the system gathers tens of thousands of real faults into a single database, coded and already solved by other professionals.

The difference from a conventional technical database lies in the starting point. Technical data describes how the vehicle is built; fault cases describe what happened on that vehicle and how it was put right. The two tools complement each other, and the second comes in when the first is not enough: when the fault code is generic, when the symptom does not point to an obvious failure, when the same fault comes back after the repair.

The interface: vehicle identification, search and repair record.

From the vehicle to the record in a few steps

The vehicle is identified by number plate or VIN: within seconds the system recognises the vehicle and shows the related cases. Manual search by make, model and engine is still available, for anyone who prefers the traditional route or is working on a vehicle not registered in Italy.

From there, advanced search filters the documentation by symptom, fault code or description of the problem. You do not need to know the name of the component in advance: you start from what the customer described or from what the ECU recorded.

What a record contains

Each case is coded and described plainly, with the step-by-step procedure and, where useful, photographs and technical drawings. Alongside the cases sit supporting records with the vehicle's technical data, the position of the fuses and of the diagnostic socket.

At launch the database held over 60,000 solved cases and it grows every day with newly documented jobs: the more it is used, the more useful it becomes.

When the case isn't there

This is what sets Sema Repair apart from an archive. If the search returns nothing, the request is taken up by the technical service, which supports the workshop until the fault is resolved. The solved case then enters the database and stays available to whoever meets the same problem next.
