WDB Automotive joins ADIRA

The company joins the association that since 2004 has represented and defended independent aftermarket operators before Italian and European institutions.

WDB S.r.l. has joined ADIRA — Association of Independent Operators in the Aftermarket Network. Membership places the company inside the body that since 2004 has represented Italian independent distribution before national and European institutions.

Founded on 20 September 2004 on the initiative of a group of industry operators, ADIRA is an independent, non-profit association. It is a member of FIGIEFA, the international federation of independent aftermarket distributors, and works on three fronts: defending fair competition against manufacturers' official networks, continuously monitoring regulatory developments, and representing the sector's interests in institutional forums.

Why the company joined

European rules on access to vehicle technical information define the space in which a database producer can operate: which data manufacturers must make available, in what form and on what commercial terms, and which security requirements — starting with SERMI certification — a workshop must meet in order to obtain it. These are the same rules that determine the breadth and the timeliness of the content WDB Automotive makes available to its customers.

Taking part directly in the association's work makes it possible to follow the regulatory framework as it is being shaped, and to adapt the architecture of the products in good time rather than reacting once the provisions are already in force.

What WDB Automotive brings

Within the association the company brings a specific industrial perspective: that of an organisation which acquires, verifies and reworks manufacturers' technical documentation every day. It is a vantage point that allows precise measurement of the gap between what a regulation provides for and what is actually usable in the workshop — a gap that rarely surfaces in the debate and that bears directly on the competitiveness of the independent aftermarket.

A broader membership

ADIRA has recently extended its remit beyond parts distribution alone, taking in operators across the whole independent aftermarket chain. WDB Automotive's membership sits within that picture: the company does not distribute components, it produces the technical information that makes their correct use possible.

What it means for customers

Membership brings no change to existing contracts or service levels. On the industrial side, the regulatory updates gathered through the association will feed into the development of the database and into the Semantica Academy training programmes, and will remain available to customers who need to find their way through obligations, deadlines and access requirements.

Twenty years of work on manufacturer data have shown that the independence of the aftermarket is defended on two fronts, the technical one and the representative one. WDB Automotive intends to contribute to both.
